Historically, after the company established a presence in 1960 in London, England, a decade of robust global expansion ensued, including entry into France, Germany and Sweden. This included the building of manufacturing facilities in Belgium and Switzerland to meet growing demand. In 1989, Mrs. Estée Lauder payed tribute to her mother’s Hungarian heritage by opening the company’s first-ever freestanding store in Budapest. The first African affiliate was established in 1974 in South Africa, and one debuted in 1996 in the Middle East.

EMEA’s regional headquarters is based near Paris, France. The headquarters has a diverse workforce, with employees representing 48 nationalities. The region is home to three of ELC’s global brands such as Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle, Kilian and Darphin.

Spotlight: United Kingdom & Ireland

The Estée Lauder Companies UK & Ireland is the number one prestige beauty company in the UK where our brands are sold across the region. In 1960, our first overseas account was launched in Harrods, the prestigious store in London, helping to establish the United Kingdom & Ireland as a core market.

In 2015, the UK & Ireland headquarters moved to a new location at One Fitzroy in London, which includes an in-house design stuido. One Fitzroy previously won the British Council for Offices Award for Fit-Out of Workplace for the London Region, and Best Workplace Interior at the World Interiors News Awards. The West End is also home to Jo Malone London’s iconic 18th century Georgian townhouse, which features design studios, boardrooms and a salon. A hi-tech distribution center at Kite’s Croft in Hampshire includes 160,000 square feet of warehouse and office space.

ELC UK & Ireland is committed to initiatives including M·A·C VIVA GLAM, Bobbi Brown’s PrettyPowerful, Jo Malone London’s commitment to Shining a Light on Mental Health, The Breast Cancer Campaign, Clinique’s Kiss it Better Campaign and Aveda’s Earth Month. Other charities supported by our efforts in the region include Smart Works, Look Good Feel Better, and Global Fund for Children.
