Employee Engagement

The Estée Lauder Companies is committed to empowering, upskilling and educating its employees to drive social impact and sustainability across the business and in the communities where they live and work. Inspired by the generosity of employees, the company continues to foster a culture of global citizenship that values and celebrates the importance of inclusion, diversity, and equity, by supporting employees’ passions and amplifying collective impact and shared culture of purpose.

Empowering Employees’ Good Works

The company recognizes the causes that matter to employees and seeks to bolster the contributions they make. To further empower employees, ELC Good Works, the company’s global charitable matching gifts and volunteerism program allows eligible employees1 to create and sign-up for volunteer activities, as well as request to have their donations and volunteer hours matched by the company.

ELC Good Works is available in all regions, including 19 markets, helping us achieve our goal to engage 50% of eligible employees in brand, regional and local volunteer and giving opportunities by 2025.

As a company with a deep culture of purpose, we embed diverse, inclusive, and personalized employee programs, such as Volunteer Time Off, virtual team volunteer opportunities, and company matching campaigns, to enhance employee experience.

1ELC Good Works eligibility includes full-time regular and part-time regular employees in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, SAR of China, India, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Peru, Switzerland, and U.S.; corporate regular full-time, regular part-time and fixed-term contract employees in the U.K., Jo Malone Global and Travel Retail; and regular full-time, regular part-time and fixed-term contract employees at the Whitman manufacturing site.

Driving Employee Impact

We believe that employees can “lead from any chair,” and we apply this principle to our social investment efforts. The Community Impact Grant was created in 2014 to give Employee Resource Group members the unique opportunity to fund and volunteer with the nonprofit(s) that they care about and that are aligned to the company’s values.

Supporting ELC Family

The ELC Cares Employee Relief Fund (ELC Cares Fund) supports eligible employees who have been impacted by catastrophic disasters (including COVID-19), personal disasters, and personal hardships. Through contributions from the company, the Lauder family and ELC employees, the ELC Cares Fund supports employees when they need it the most. Eligible employees globally can donate to the ELC Cares Fund to support one another in difficult times.

Educating and Upskilling

As a learning organization which aims to foster an environment of curiosity and to create a workplace that encourages continuous learning and development, the company created the Beauty Inspired, Values Driven Interactive Learning Guide, upholding its commitment to provide access to information on basic sustainability and social impact programs to 100% of ELC’s employees worldwide. The Beauty Inspired, Values Driven Interactive Learning Guide is designed to support employee’s interests in areas including ELC’s action on climate change, social impact programs and approach to product sustainability, helping to educate and mobilize employees to embed this important work throughout the enterprise.
